Experienced users please give me your comments on this.
I have been testing to burn on DVD Hi8/VHS/TV films, capturing with VirtualDub at 480x288, and encoding with TMPGEnc (last version). I have used several DVD bitrates, and up to 2 Pass VBR 2750 kbps I can see no difference on the results; below this bitrate some fast moving scnenes start to pixelate.
However, the low resolution DVD template of TMPGEnc (352x288 mpg-1 1850 kbps) provides a result identical to the normal resolution templates, and can acommodate up to 280 minutes of video. Is this a good option for analogue sources or is something missing to me?
What is your advice and experience for this situation? The goal will be to put as much film as possible without compromising quality. Donīt forget that the original source is not DVD...
I donīt understand also this "low resolution" template of TMPGEnc; mpg-1 files should have 1150 kbps, how can this template work with 1850 kbps?
Tx
