  1. hey guys i need some help with divx conversion. I pretty experienced so lay it on me with the suggestions. Heres what ive done. I have a divx avi that plays perfectly in high quality, no sync probs. I put it into dvd workshop and autored letting workshop do the converison and when watching the title set i noticed some pretty bad sound problems toward the middle, out of sync and eventually none. The source was 24 fps and i assumed workshop would have converted to 30. The output video was fine still the right length put sound sucked. I then checked the mpg created by workshop and it had the probs so i changed gears. I loaded virtual dub and extracted the wav and checked its time. 81 minutes, good. I then loaded tmpeg and tried to convert. wrong time of file so i increased directshow priority and corrected that. Now divx video source right time and wave right time. Convert to mpeg2 for dvd and sync probs again. just for kicks demulti plex m2v out of tmpeg mpeg2 and imprted into spruceup and still spruce up no likey. Whats the deal? Any suggestions? Thanx in advance

  2. Don't know about your problems with DVD WS, but as far as vdub/tmpgenc goes, what versions are you using. AFAIK, TmpGenc doesnt like VBR audio and some older versions of vdub don't warn about it and don't handle it too well.

I would suggest trying the following.

Open your avi in goldwave (www.goldwave.com) and save out the audio from there as uncompressed wav format. I would also suggest you do sample rate conversion at this point (before saveing) if you need to. Then encode with Tmpgenc as usual with your avi as video source and this wav as audio source.

    Hope this helps
