mpeg launches browser

some videos <cough>pr0n</cough> you download automatically launch your browser when you play them. can this function be removed from the clip? if so, how? thanks.

You mean...launch something like Window Media Player?

it opens the default web browser and loads some pr0n site.

yeah
some adult mpg clips will launch your browser to the home page of the company that provided the clip.
closing that page opens 2 more etc etc till you need to reboot to get out.
the clips are usually under a meg so I dont play the shorties anymore

You could also try something like Pop-up stopper (free) and set it to aggressive, so it won't allow any new browser windows to open. However, a first window will come up, so to avoid getting the "pron", just open a dummy site, like msn, or why not a local html-file?

Me personally, I use Zonealarm and have it lock down all traffic until I see that the file is clean. Even if it launches a broswer window, it craps out and goes 404 and cant keep launching windows.
