    Hello All,

I'm trying to edit off just the ends of some 70-80Mb svcd mpegs and having troubles doing this in TMPGEncode. I go through the whole process using the "MPEG Tools" functions, setting the start and end points, but then when I run the process to create the new, chopped file, it doesn't end right where I told it to. It often goes right over my endpoint-mark, which is very frustrating and a waste of time. Anybody have some clues as to how to make this program more accurate with it's range to operate over?

    Thanks Sincerely

  2. Frame accurate cutting may not be possible in TMPGEnc due to GOP issues and compliance to standard. Instead of placing the endpoint on the last frame of a scene, try marking a few frames BEFORE the actual end desired.

  3. Cutting is much more accurate if you do it when you encode. Use the source range filter on the Advanced tab of the Settings panel. When you're working with the AVI, you have all the uncompressed frames available and can cut things anywhere you want. After the AVI is compressed to MPG, cutting anywhere other than at a key frame (I) would produce an invalid stream.

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately I only have the .mpg versions of these files. I didn't encode them from an original .avi source file.

Any other options or programs that might be able to do a better job?
