  1. My question is what software do I use to be able to make one DVD Rip download fit onto one 4.7 +R DVD. I use VirtualDub to extract the audio. Then I use TMPGEnc but it is still too big. What do I need to do from here. Is there a template you can link to or a guid specifically explaining this? I am only trying to do Disney movies for my kids so they are not that large of files. Thanks for the advice

  2. The final size of a movie depends entirley on the bitrate selected and the movie length. If using CBR or 2-pass VBR, use a bitrate calculator to find what bitrate you can get away with. If using CQ mode it is more difficult to calculate final file size. All you can really do is pick a Quality value and encode. If the file is too big, reduce the quality value and encode again. Repeat until you get the file size you need.

Once you have you mpg you need to author it to DVD-video standards using an authoring app. Find one that accepts mp2 audio such as Ulead DVD WS or Dazzle DVD complete. Somm authoring apps will re-encode your audio to PCM (Like MyDVD) which is MUCH bigger and so reduces the space available for your movie.

    Hope this helps
