I have TMPGEnc 2.59 and just downloaded m2v_vfp-0.4.6.ZIP encoder. First I don't know how to install it to my TMPGEnc. Second, my TMPGEnc cannot read the m2v files I am trying to open, saying it is unsupported. By the way it is the m2v/mpg file that is 480x480 in dimension. What software do I need to convert this? I want to make it into a VCD compliant mpeg. Thanks in advace for your replies.

recent version: 0.6.17:
http://www.marumo.ne.jp/mpeg2/
Simply copy it to the TMPG directory. (tmpgenc.exe and m2v.vfp must be in the same dir)
I am not sure whether the audio support is stable now.
Start TMPGEnc. and load the video source. Select options > enviromental (global) settings > VFAPIplugin. Increase the priority of the m2v plugin. -

whats this for exactly anyway since mpeg2 support is by powerdvd or ligos?
i mean - is it really nessessary for something , since one can open mpeg files as it ... or is this in replacement of Powerdvd or ligos? -

After that it seems, that m2v.vfp support audio quite well.
However, if that does not work for you, demux the audio with dvd2avi (audio > mpeg audio > demux) and decompress it to wav with TMPGEnc.(file > output to file > wav file)
@ BJ_M, yes, it is just a replacement. -

you could have just opened the mpg file in soundforge directly - audio or otherwise...

I got around it in TMPGEnc by using the MPEG Tools and doing a Simple De-multiplex of the .mpg file. Then I loaded the .mpg as the video source and the .mp2 file i got from the de-mulitplex as the audio source.
