a friend of mine, with a pc, captured 4 hours of video for me using Creative Video Blaster. we used the software to convert the files from the original .bts format to mpeg2. (so the instructions say)
i copied these mpeg2 files onto an external hard drive and copied them to my mac. they open up within QuickTime 6 but i get an error saying "converter not found". after installing the mpeg2 codec on my pc laptop i can now view the videos. is there a working codec for mac?
ideally, i'd like to edit out the commercials, and get the video onto a dvd for regular viewing. (it's of a football game in case you're wondering)
how do i go about this?
i'd prefer to do any/all work on my mac but could use my pc if it'll be easier.
thanks!

If you want to view an mpeg2 file on your laptop you need to make sure you have an mpeg2 codec installed. Either install a software DVD player or install the mpeg2 codec from the tools section of this site
