i`m having trouble encoding with tmpgenc plus v2.59. if i encode interlaced; the video "stutters" and the audios fine. if i encode non interlaced (progressive); i get black lines in the movement or action scenes. i`ve tried just about every setting and nothing seems to work. i am using dvd rips. can`t seem to figure it out. are all factory dvd`s non interlaced? and is it a good idea to always output my encodes as non interlaced (when burning to a dvdr)? thanx!

most (but not all) dvd's are progressive (for ntsc at least i know nothing about pal formats). did you frameserve with dvd2avi? if so what was your field operations set to? if its type film when you hit F5 then check the force film in field operation if it is type ntsc choos none on field operation. then choose appropriate tmpgenc template.
hope this helps if not , list your steps from rip to burn. that could help spot the problem -
From the issues you describe it sounds like you may benefit from enabling the Inverse Telecine option. (Settings \ Advanced \ Inverse Telecine).
What this option does is analyze the movie (before re-encoding occurs) so it can correctly recreate the movie’s original framerate. In this case NTSC 29.97 FPS to Progressive 24 FPS. This should correct your issue. Please note that running Inverse Telecine can add several hours to your encode time.
Hope this helps.

The short black bars are casued by trying to encode flim rate video into NTSC SVCD.
I got the same problem, before I use DVD2AVI then frameserve.
I never try to encode straight to flim rate NTSC SVCD. It may work.
