  1. I have successfully created a VCD to run on my VCD-only DVD player using my MPEG-2 ATI captured video as source and then converting to VCD format using TMPGEnc's header trick, problem is, now the sound runs after the video. And I don't mean in a way that can be fixed merely by moving the sound backwards. The sound runs throughout the video, but it gradually gets further and further behind until finally, after 4 minutes, the video stops and the sound goes on for another 10 seconds or so. Both the video and the audio SEEM like they are correct, no anomalies or bad skips or anything like that.

When I look at the source MPEG-2 file, there is no such problem. But when I look at the file converted by TMPGEnc using the header trick, the problem is there. What's going on and how do I fix this?

  2. Oh by the way, I'm using TMPGEnc 2.59, capturing using ATI Rage Fury Pro w/MMC 7.1. I have a 6GB 33.3MHz ATA controller Hard Drive (5600rpm, not sure of the cache size) on a W98 system with a Duron 1GHz CPU. The settings that I used were MPEG-2 on-the-fly capture in NTSC TV frame rate (29.97), 352x240 resolution with a VBR setting on the ATI capture card of 1.55Mb/sec. The peak Mb/sec in the video is 1.52. I've discovered that on my DVD player, a Sony DVP-330S, that the peak and avg bit rates have a lot to do whether it can play a "trick" VCD or not. Using the standard 1.6Mb/sec avg bit rate of standard SVCDs simply won't work and will result in audio and video sync problems and choppy display (as well as frequency alterations where the announcer sounds like he sucked up some helium). Reducing the bit rate and resolution works well so this is not the problem. I burn using VCDEasy 1.1.2.
