  1. i just bought a box of these from compusa and they won't read in my burner on my computer. i know why they won't work there.

my question is when i use them in the amoisonic vdr2000 they read as 80min/700mb discs not 99min/850mb. does anyone have any experience with the vdr2000 and know how to tweak it to read these discs correctly?

The only way you'll get your VDR to recognize these +90min CD-R's is via firmware. If Amoisonic don't release one I think you're stuck. Try contacting them (I believe their main offices are in Hong Kong) via their website.

Adam Electonics seem to be offering their own version of the VDR2000 - you might ask them for a firmware upgrade.

Is there any update for the VDR2000 available
or is there a way to use a DVD-(R)W or HDD instead to overcome the limitations?

Since I still use my VDR2000 I search on regular base and only found an article about firmwareprogramming but not intended to increase storing time so far.

While there might have been one I don't know since I can't read chineese at all.

90/99 min CDs are (at least have been) always reported as 80 min by the burner. Just look at them as 80 min CD-Rs with a good capacity for overburning.

To use 90/99 minute CDR's both your CDR burner and your burning software must be compatible with overburning. I don't see your burner even listed in the CDR section. Is it overburn comapible?

I noticed the same about 90' CD,
but I am just looking for a way to use the encoder to get longer streams.

I would be willing to buy a DVD-(R)W or a HDD and format it to whatever is needed (some claimed that DVD-player could use a HDD with Linux partitions but have not read anyone reporting about it) for this purpose.

To use the VDR Hardware as grabbber for several hours at a time not just 37`. Preferably to be able to use it directly to stream to my PC/a HDD

The quality is acceptable for me just the 37`is to short and I don't like beeing forced to use a VCR to buffer it so I don't miss anything.

I have tried several external grabber with USB-1.1 +2.0 to replace my VDR but was not to happy with the results.

It was the only time someone was interested in the VDR2000.

I hoped the one owning the same VDR would know.
