i have a Pioneer204 in a generic USB2.0/Firewire case (newegg).. whenever i try to play regular store-bought DVDs via PowerDVD XP (came with the drive), it only gets about 5 or 10 minutes into the movie before the window gets filled with garbage and the movie finally stops.. i have to force PowerDVD to close, and can't restart it until i eject the DVD.. i've emailed Cyberlink about it, and they say i need to make sure i activate DMA access to the drive, but i can't find anything in the control panel to do that.. i have the same problem if i use the regular dvdplayer.exe that came with win2k..
before i was forced to put the drive into an external case and had it hooked up via ATAPI, it everything worked fine..
any help appreciated, i want to watch movies!
win2k sp3
P4 2.53Ghz
2G ram
geforce4 ti4600
built-in firewire and usb2.0
dvd hooked up via firewire
