Well, last night I loaded six hours of mpg1 files to Nero and then tried to burn them to a DVD using an HP 200i. It did not work. The first coaster locked at about 54% completion and the second coaster stopped after only 3% completion.

After the first coaster I tried to use the burning program that comes with the HP machine, ArcSoft Show Biz. I loaded the files and then put them in sequence on the frames down below in the program. This program looks very similar to the new Nero Express. However, when I hit export, the equivalent of burn, I got a message that the program had generated some errors and was closing. The same kind of error I get with Windows Media Player when I load the Nimo codec package; except that I have not loaded the Nimo package. I have to mention that I did turn off the encoding part of this loading program.

I then tried to join the files using tmpeg. I discovered that some of the files were not compatible with each other. So, I replaced those with other mpg1 files and tried to join them into one big 4.4 gig file; tmpeg crashed at about 12% completion.

Has anyone used ArcSoft Show Biz, the origram that comes with theHP 200i DVD authoring software? Is it any good?
Does anyone recommend something better? Nero? Ulead?
Can Nero burn to DVDs, or do I need the new Nero Express and the MPG2 package?

Thank you.
