I have 5 90 min and 5 99 min CDR's coming this week. How do I burn them? Is it necessary to check the overburn option in Nero since it is not an actual overburn if I stay under the allocated amount?

I bought the media at allmediaoutlet it suggests my burner is capable and they recomended CDRWIN to burn them, which I also have. However, when I try to load the cue/bin file (from DVD2SVCD) it gives me an error of time allocatation.

I don't care which application I use I just want to be able to burn the cue/bin file.

    Thanks

  2. Yes, you still have to check "Enable Overburn". Check these links:

I've created VCDs with around 90 minutes of video on 99-minute media with no problems. Most consumer electronics can play 90-minute media just fine, but some will have problems with 99-minute discs (especially near the end of the disc).

I agree. None of my computer DVD-ROM or CD-R/W drives will play past 90 minutes. My neighbor has a newer DVD-ROM in his computer, and it will play the full 99 minutes.

All of my DVD standalone players will play the full 99 minutes.

  7. My DVD player (Pioneer DV-533K) can only play up to 88min+ and then start to behave in a weird manner such as repeating the video > 88min randomly each time repeating at different portion for several seconds.

Now I regret buying a spindle of 99min CD-Rs. 90min is good enough.

  8. CDRWin (correctly I believe) won't burn any subindices over 80min. This means that if you make a CUE/BIN image of a S/VCD with chapters in this part of the disc, CDRWin will refuse to burn the disc.

Your options are to use something like the "Subindices Remover" option in GNU VCDImager Tools GUI or use something that will "ignore" the specs -- e.g., CDRDAO.

It has been suggested that you create your CUE/BIN image in sector-2336 mode for 90min and 99min CDs. I'm sure this is for pragmatic reasons, but I'm not exactly sure why.

Also, some burners may struggle at burning the ends of these high capacity discs if you choose a high burn speed.

    Regards.

  9. What brand of 99 minute CD-R do you use and where do you purchase it from?

I've only found Infiniti brand 99 minute CDRs sold on online shops based in UK/EU, and most of them do not ship overseas to the US or having ridiculous shipping costs if they do.
