Ok Gang, I'll provide as much info as possible, as I am new and FRUSTRATED. I bought today a Philips DVD 615, primarily for the purpose of playing VCD/SVCD burnt on my home PC.
I have an ArrGO 48x/16x/18x Write/ReWrite/Read CD-Burner that works fine, burns VCD/SVCD perfectly. I am having trouble getting my DVD player to read them, but they play correctly on my PC. Everytime I put a disc inthe 615, it tries to read it, but winds up saying 'no disc'. It plays DVD's fine. The compatibility chart here says it plays VCD/SVCD on CD-R or CD-RW.
I called Philips, they only said it should be working, use Nero or Easy CD and make sure to finalize, which I have been doing. I've only been burning CD-R's as I only have a few blank CD-RW, and dont want to waste them if I don't have to.
Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? I really want this to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again,
Ben

Update -
After talking to Philips some more I learned that they had problems with Memorex media prior to my call, and Sony, TDK or a third brand I forget, will likely be readable to this machine. So, I went out and bought some TDK media, no dice.
So, the machine went back, and a SD-2800 Toshiba came home. The very first Disc I tried worked. Problem solved.
Thanks for reading.
