HI,
Have been at it on and off now for nearly a week and just seem to be going round in circles. Have dowloaded an avi file, firstly do i need to convert this into a mpeg file to then covert it into a vcd? If yes I have tried this and will not allow me to convert to mpeg because of compressed audio!! Im i still making sense. Probably the easiest thing to do, but i am really struggling, any help would be much appreciated.

fistly download avi 2 mpeg ,then use decompress.exe to decompress the film you will end up with pcm in the file name indicating you have decompressed the audio stream, now load that file into somethging like
tmpeg and let the software do the rest you will end up with a mpg file now use someting like vcdgear to reencode and split the file

Check out TMPGEnc (tools button left panel here).
If you have the right Codec installed on your machine, the AVI can be loaded into TMPGEnc and converted to MPEG--
