i am currently downloading the all of the red dwarf series and they are coming as mpeg files at 300mb each. with these file sizes i can only fit 2 per disc. is there anyway that i could convert these files to avi and reduce the file sizes.![]()

Load them into a program like VirtualDub and save them in DivX format.
Check the "Tools" button on the left panel here.--

ive tried doing that using divx pro 5.0.2 codec and my avi file ends up 100mb larger than my mpeg file

Next step would be to try Kwag's templates. They are for MPEG, but he claims he can get up to 180 minutes on one CD with "acceptable quality".
These are non-standard templates and as such will not work on most stand alone boxes.
Actually, with each re-encode you will lose quality, so I would suggest you leave the MPEGs as they are. Blank CDs are very cheap these days. We can get 100 Generic CDs for $40.00 Canadian. That is like $30.00 US.
At $0.30 per CD, why worry?--
