  1. hi as says above got a prob with svcds:
example LOTR 4cd's..all img / cue files.
Burnt cd1 plays perfect on my wharfedale dvd-750 standalone player. Burnt cd 2 exactly same method..stops after 4 seconds.. the four seconds it plays are almost like slow motion.
I have got this problem on a lot of svcds..searched everywhere i can find for a similar problem and fix but no joy.
    Can anyone advise pls?

Just found someit interesting: CD1 in player shows as SVCD, CD2 shows as VCD

  2. right click on file select properties to see if video is mpeg2(svcd) or tryvirtual dub to find out for sure what file it is ie/mpeg 1 or 2...you will have to rencode it to svcd if that is the medium you wish to play...

I've had a very similar problem. As mentioned by the first reply, you MUST be sure to choose MPEG2 (SVCD) instead of plain-vanilla MPEG2.
You will find this in the ADVANCED menu in TMPGEnc under STGREAM TYPE.
This is something you will have to do during the encoding phase.
I found that when I tried to encode plain-vanilla MPEG2 and burned the resulting MPEG-2 file as an SVCD, I got the kind of problems you describe (well, actually, my problems involve play-then-freeze, then more play, then freeze again, etc.)
Changing the encode setting to MPEG-2 (SVCD) under STREAM TYPE solved that problem completely.
    Quick check:
Have you tried playing the encoded file back on your computer to make sure it's not a problem with your DVD player?
