My chinese made player (Shinco) broke down a few weeks ago and I decided to buy a branded DVD player this time round. Took delivery of the multiregion Toshiba SD220 yesterday (from amazon.co.uk for £119) and found that all my region 1 and region 6 disks appear in black and white. They were all shown in colour on my previous Shinco player and I know my TV is NTSC compatible. Has anyone come across this problem on the Tosh and if so do you know how I can resolve this problem?

Thanks for any help in advance.

    rmalik,

I finally found out what the problem was (which might be different to what you are experiencing). It was a combination of SCART socket on my TV and the SCART cable I was using - a bit complicated so here goes.

I have 2 SCART sockets on my TV (AV1 & AV2), one of which is RGM enabled (AV1). This is the crucial part - you should connect the RGB enabled socket to your DVD player. One of my problems was that I was using AV2 (since AV1 was connected to my VCR). The other problem I had was that my cheapo SCART socket I had did not have all the pins connected so the RGB signals were not sent to my TV. I have since purchased some more expensive SCART cable with all pins connected.

It all works hunky dory now :P

Hope this helps with solving your problem.

    Cheers,
