  1. I've recorded my wedding in Brasil, with the local PAL system.
Now I live in Europe with a different PAL system (it seems to me that one of the two is PAL-G and the other PAL-M, can't say which one)

Does anyone know how can I capture my videotape? It's captured always in black an white (while it's in colors) and apparently with a wrong frame size: the aspect ratio is incorrect and a portion of each frame is copied to the bottom.

    Thanks again

Brazil uses PAL-M which to me is similar to NTSC except for the color subcarrier.

The main difference between PAL and NTSC is that PAL runs at 50hz and NTSC at 60hz.

If you play a NTSC tape in a "recent" PAL VCR it will output someting called PAL-60 (instead of PAL-50).

PAL-60 captures usualy end up in blach & white.

I've read somewhere (can't remember where) that some people where successful capturing PAL-60 using DScaler. http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/downloads.htm

I've never tried myself, so I can't say more.

    Hi
I use powervcr2 u get the option to set your "video signal format".
This has a number of fomats in it based on various pal and ntsc signals.
I assume that if u played your video thru this software you could try the different formats and eventually one will work.

Buy a AIWA multisystem VCR. There might be others but AIWA is the lider.
Such a VCR can play/convert from/to any existing TV standart, including Brasilian PAL. I am sure because I remember when I saw for the first time the words "Brasilian PAL" on such a player. The price must be about 300USD.
    Best wishes,

  6. Thanks to all!

I will try your suggestions ... and hope some of them work!

Fozzee: unfortunately the wedding tape plays to TV without colour. Just some tiny (and annoying) colour bars appearing sometimes as flashes around the screen, without any accordance with the picture. The frame format appears to be ok on TV (circles are round and faces look good) but the capture card doesn't understand and displays frames compressing the image and copying the upper portion of the frames to the bottom with a different aspect ratio (tipically the foreheads displayed also at the bottom of the screen): a mess!
The original capture software shipped with the card, succeeded in showing the right colours and the right aspect ratio, but hanged after few seconds.
