    Hi,

I have a Pinnacle PCTV capture device. I want to make svcd's from tv-programs and vhs-tapes but that is not possible. All the options are greyed out, I can only make recordings in AVI MPEG1 format. It should be possible to record directly to SVCD and VCD format. It worked fine before my latest HD-crash... Does anyone know a solution for this?

    ciao

You did not mention what application are you using for capture. If Pinnacle software ie. Studio 7, try using another apps instead. I had encounter a lot of problems w/ this software. You can try Virtual VCR from this site or if $$ doesnt matter Cyberlink's PowerDirector or Ulead's Video Studio 6

  3. With the normal drivers and applications these options are allways grayed out (at least as far as I'm aware of). These normal drivers are available on the Pinnacle website. If you want to capture directly to vcd or svcd you will need the pro version that, offcourse, you can buy on the Pinnacle website. If, as you say, these options where available at first then you must have had the pro version installed previously. So check if you've installed the exact same drivers this time.

On the other hand you could try capturing with iuvcr and then converting to (s)vcd with TMPG. I do it all the time and it look MUCH better that way than with studio PCTV... but it also takes a lot longer.

Ahh this was the trick, thank you very much. I installed drivers from the website because I left my Pinnacle PC TV Pro cd elsewhere. So now I re-installed from the cd and everything works fine now.
