Hi, this site is been of great help so far. I would like to know if there is any good standalone card that will record and encode directly into SVCD? i understand the ATI AIW does this?
Does this method produce the same quality results as recording in AVI and encoding after?
i already have a good video card (geforce 2) and i would like to know which options are out there rather than buying a whole new video card (ATI).

For $300 you get a WinTV PVR and you can encode directly to VCD or SVCD (with the SVCDguide). Or with a Dazzle RT Card you can also encode in RT.

The Dazzle DVC2 is a good choice. Read our review under Video Articles and check the Capture Cards section.
