  1. I have a HP DVD200i DVD writer and I misplaced the original CD installation disc. I'm running W2K Pro and it detects the model as HP DVD200i SCSI CD-Rom. Everything seems to work fine but when I burn DVD, I get a SCSI Target Error. The CD-Writer is actually an IDE Drive. I went to HP's website but I'll have to buy the installation disc from them but it takes 3-5 business days. I don't mind paying for it but I really don't want to wait that long. I'm hoping someone who has the same cd-writer to create an image of the disc for me to download or for you to upload to me. I have AT&T Broadband.

i dont think you need any drivers .... the error you are getting is unreleated .. did you try re-installing the ascpi layer ?

  3. Yes, I did. In fact, that's the first thing I did. I have the ASPI 4.71 for W2K installed. It used to work fine with the original installation but I reconfigured my hardware and reinstalled all software from scratch recently and this problem with SCSI Target Error surfaced. However, I never did noted whether it was listed as a HP DVD200i SCSI CD-ROM in device manager from the original installation. Since it is an IDE drive, I don't know why I would have a SCSI Target Error other than the fact that windows detected it as a SCSI interface and loaded an incorrect driver.

my understanding is that all devices using the ascpi layer are treated as scsi devices (ascpi stands for scsi something) .. not really sure of this never had a problem with it ..

  5. I found my installation disks and I just ran the core install without any of the other bundled programs and the problem is still there. Device Manager still shows the drive as HP DVD 200i SCSI CD-ROM. I tried detaching my third hard drive from the same secondary IDE onboard controller that the burner is on and burned a DVD without the error. I will burn some more the same way and see if that will resolve the SCSI Target Error. Thanks for your help.

  6. I burned additional DVD without any SCSI Target Error. FYI. my firmware is still 1.06. Would anyone recommend me to upgrade to 1.37?
