  1. Easy question...but I cannot find the answer....!

Hi, I've got a bunch of Karaoke CDs in my wifes language, and have been wanting to burn them to a MP3 format disk (so I can get lots of them on one disk). I've managed to strip the sound from the DAT files to an audio wav file using VirtualDub......so now I have them all in Wav format (and have burned some normal audio disks)....
I have A DVD player that plays MP3 disks (magnavox 2026), How do I burn these Wav files to a disk that is MP3 (so I can squeeze a lot of them in?).
Where to get more info on MP3 formatted disks????

THanks for your help..........My wife will really appreciate it (BTW she's Cambodian if your curious).

    Thanks...........Jay W

  2. Your problem is not the disc itself, but the files. MP3 is simply a compression format for files, and to create them you need to find a suitable encoder. There are tons of programs that can do this. An easy enough one to use is MusicMatch jukebox (not just an encoder, but it can do the job). There are plenty to choose from. Once you convert the WAV files to MP3, its just a matter of burning them to the CD. I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly how the files should be placed on the disc to ensure your player will read it correctly, however.

  3. That's exactly what I'm looking for, thanks for putting it in better words for me....how is it supposed to be encoded so the DVD (that reads MP3 format disks) will play it.

I'll be checking out MusicMatch jukebox to convert to MP3, I was kind of hoping there was some burner that would do this while burning it as an mp3 disk...

    THanks...Jay

Mp3 disk is just a normal data cdr. There's no option to burn "mp3 format" disks in any cd writing software. Your DVD manual should have info about what kind of mp3 cdr it's capable of playing (bitrates, naming restrictions ...). Many DVDs can't handle multisession CDs.

    Hey bud,
You need to burn the mp3's, once you get them to mp3's with an mp3 disc authoring program. The one I know of is in Adaptec Easy CD Creator v 5 Platinum. It creates what is called an m3u playlist file, that tells the dvd player the song list. I don't know for sure if you can drag wav's right into it (to try to save you a step).

Easy Cd creator, cannot use wav files when making an Mp3 disk. It can use wav and Mp3 when making a music disk.

Use a good program like http://www.goldwave.com to convert your wav files.

    Help file:
With Easy CD Creator, you can make an MP3 CD with hours of MP3 music that can be played on your computer or in an MP3 CD player.

    To make an MP3 CD:

    1. Start a new MP3 CD project. From the File menu, point to New CD Project, then select MP3 CD.

    2. Insert a blank CD into your CD-Recorder (the destination drive).

    3. Add the MP3 files you want to record to the MP3 CD project. See Adding MP3 Files to the MP3 CD Project.

Note: You can add MP3 files to an MP3 CD project only. Up to 650 MB (74-minute CD) or 700 MB (80-minute CD) of MP3 files can be added to an MP3 CD project.

    4. Click Record . The Record CD Setup dialog box appears.

    5. Click Start Recording.

    Ratbert,
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU BURN YOUR CD-R. THERE ARE SOME DVD PLAYER UNITS THAT NOT ACCEPT/PLAY .MP3 FILES UNDER DIRECTORY FOLDERS.

  8. Thanks all.....I decided nothin to really lose (except making a scrap cd) and burned regular MP3 files into the root directory of a blank CD.... I'll be darned, it worked played in the DVD player fine...

Thanks everyone...didn't think it would be this simple

  9. I think there's a limit to how many files can be placed in the root of a CD...just something to watch for

  10. I'm glad you spoke up and said something.....I did a little search for MP3 root limit and found the following page..
I think it's for specific players, but the general info should help me (I think). Especially the 3 or more sub-directories.

    Thanks again.
