I plan on buying a camcorder to mainly edit my surgical operation videos. Do you think that the camera resolution or format (Digital 8 or Mini DV) have an effect on the finial movie if it is recorded using the VCR option and not through the lens??

I may be missing something here, but... Why don't you save the money of the camcorder, and just buy a good capture card for the PC, get a copy of your operation tapes, hook your VCR to your brand-new capture card, and edit the video on the PC side?

Thank you for the reply. First I use my note book for the editing which means i will have to buy an external capture card. so I thought it would be better to buy a camera instead. second i think it easier to edit the film primiraly on the digital tape and then capture this shorter movie on my compture for final editing. second the camera may come to be useful in capturing some footage of patients if needed.
