I recently began to learn how to rip and encode dvd’s into vcd’s from obtaining knowledge from http://www.vcdhelp.com, and Sefy’s assistance. Today I finished up my first rip and encode on a dvd called “No Escape”. I burned it on 2 cd-r’s with Nero 5.5, and it seems to work pretty decent. However, I’m sure I need to learn more about which templates to use and a better understanding on aspect ratio.

I used this method: Smart Ripper, DVD2AVI and convert to VCD/XVCD (or variants) with TMPGEnc. For the template I used: SxVCD for NTSC Enhanced.MCF, and I left all the default values. The movie was a 2 hour movie and it encoded at approx- 550mb per cd (slit up per cd)

My question is I’m planning to rip and encode another dvd soon, with a aspect ratio of 2.35:1 Am I suppose to factor the aspect ratio into the templates values for a better encode? If so, how?

Can someone recommend a excellent template to use and can I manipulate the bit rate from 1150kbps, to approx 1500kbps? If I up the bit rate, will the quality turn out better?

Thanks
