Hey Guys,

I need some advice, tips from you guys, but first I'll get you up to speed on my project. I am owrking on converting a bunch of VHS Cartoon Episodes to the DIVX format. In the future I'd like to get thes eon a DVD-R but I don't have a burner yet so I'll stay here.. Now Alot of people told me to go to MPEG, however I am strapped for time so I am using this format as I know how to use it (for the most part) and its very fast in capturing these.. I will lose all these tapes in a week.. so I need to get them now..

Quality is no object and I have a good fast CPU so thats cool..

Anyways I have been capturing these and after a DIVX Capture at 640 x 480 size (I knwo its overkill, etter to be safe than sorry), and a rate of 400 KBS the final size is 660 megs or so per episode.. which is fine as it fits on one CD-R (where it will be stored for now)... On my computer the quality is great..

Just to see what would happend I converted one to the MPEG 2 format to make an SVCD.. Now I am sure I messed up ont he conversion somewhere (way to many tabs for me to deal with now, when I have more time) , but it did play and look pretty good (nice Res, pic quality) when I played it back on my DVD Player.. however it was a bit jumpy at points.. This seemed to be the only problem.. otherwise it would look just as good as the source video tape..

Oh and one thing, the Mpeg 2 Conversion was about 400 Megs which less than my Divx Capture (660 Megs).. I though tthat was weird, but I dunno much about conversion.. Yet..

Anyways... ANyone use the DIVX format? know why these might be a bit jumpy after a conversion to MPEG 2 (during DVD Playback)? is 4000 KBS to high for capture? would that efect it? I dunno so many things can go wrong. I just basically need to know that with a little tweaking during the conversion process I can get these to come out less jumpy and then they would be fine for SVCD.. which makes me think they will be fine for DVD..

Either way I am strapped for time on this project. I have only done 8 episodes in the cap (4000 KBS 640 x 480 size ).. so if I need to go smaller or whatever I can do it now, but with 100 cartoons to do soon I will be in to deep to start over..

Hope I am clear on this.. I really could use someone here who has converted DIVX to SVCD..
