Ok, if I am using constant bit rate for SVCD (or even VCD), do you really need to set this setting at high to get better quality. The documentation states you use this for Variable bit to check to make sure the variable is used correctly duirng fast motion scenes. Since I have a constant bit rate.....why do I need a motion search precision setting?????????
Confused...

well if you dont want to use it -- set it on low and see the results ..
btw -- CBR does not mean your bit rate remains constant only that the buffer is filled at a constant rate if that any hint .. -
Well, I could do that...and spend a couple of hours....instead...I rather have a technical response instead of a hint...
dont take it the wrong way... -
it never takes a couple hours, tmpenc has a option for encoding a 'range'. so find a action packed spot, select it as a range and encode a minute or two with and without and see the difference.
