  1. I have several small clips from my DV camera that I would like to author in the highest possible resolution for DVD playback on a CDR (these are 6 minute sparring matches from my nieces martial arts tournaments.

I can easily turn them into SVCDs, but I'm more interested in actual DVD quality (since the clips are so short, they will easily fit on a CD at max res/bitrate).

Is there a way to author a "DVD" onto a CD for DVD playback, or am I limited to trying to create non-standard SVCDs with higher than normal bitrates?

    Thanks

  2. You can fit 15 minutes on a CDR if done as a miniDVD.

But not all DVD players can read these discs,
partly due to that it have to spin the disc as 8x.

Just author the video as a regular DVD with VIDEO_TS folder and VOB(s)

If DVD player can not handle it, a SVCD at high bitrate would be best.
But some DVD players can not handle XSVCD

  3. This is great news!

I've never authored a DVD before.
I have TMPGEnc and Nero; what other tools will I need?

    Thanks

  4. AndyInNYC,

I have also been making martial arts tournament videos for CD/DVD. If you lower the bitrate you can actually get about 20mins, still decent quality. However, as tonyp12 said, not many DVD players will play it back. A PC DVD player should do it though.

For authoring software checkout the section on this website:

If you're interested in the videos I've been making, you can download some (low quality) samples from http://pekanet.org - use the menu on the left and select Videos > Karate Videos. Check the feedback section if you want email me directly.
