  1. ive just bought a Win Tv Pvr pci. it has various settings for vcd and svcd. the problem im haveing is i set it to the best or second best quaility which is MPEG2 12.0MB/sec & MPEG2 8.0MB/sec and a 30 minute t.v show save a mpeg 2 of 1.8 gig and higher . is there anyway i can convert this huge mpeg2 file to say a avi file or something so i can archive these shows ? if this is in the wrong section please let me know and ill move it ... thanks in advance

  2. not sure, but friends have capture cards and they say
    when u capture,they say it takes up huge amount of
    drive space,so u should burn it off to disc quickly or
    you cant capture very much more,try pinnacle or
    ulead dvd workshop or something else i guess

    1.8GB sounds about right for 30 minutes at 8Mbit/s. If you want it smaller use a lower bitrate, or convert your MPEG to DivX or a lower-bitrate MPEG file after capture.

  4. you want a conversion prog like TMPGENC which converts to a compressed much smaller MPG SVCD file ready for burning. very easy to do. www.tmpgenc.com. I got a prog called T-Rex which came with my pinnacle PCTV card and its a very good conversion prog. wish i could say the same for the card itself...
