  1. I have tried several times to do this and obviously I am just inept.
I got a couple of the dvd backup proggies but even if I rip with smart ripper I still get copy protection errors.
I have a 2 year old who knows how to operate the dvd player so it is pretty important for me to make back-ups so he does not destroy the originals.
I am going to try some of the other stuff I have seen here tonight but can anybody guide me to the sure fire way to get this done, PLEASE? I always seem to get some strange error.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  2. if i am reading your post correctly your having problems ripping a movie through smartripper.

if so start the film in power dvd or whatever program you use to watch them and leave it running on your taskbar then run smartripper, it will help to unlock it.

  3. SOrt of...The dvd rips ok but when I try to open in in one of these other proggies to write to dvd-r it still tels me it's copy protected. I'm sure I am doing something wrong or have something set up wrong I'm just not sure what.
I was under the impression tha instant cd/dvd would just rip it and convert it to the right size to fit a dvd-r but it also always gives me the copy protection error. Because of this I ripped it with smart and told it to demacro but when I tried to point instant to the files I ripped it once again said copyprotected. I think I must be missing a step somehow.

    thanks,
