  1. I use Nero for all my DVD recordings I have a lot of good burns from Nero, But after reading posts here it seems there is better out there so I want to try out a new burning utility.

I downloaded VOB Instant CD/DVD but the version req paying for and registering before I can use the DVD part of the software

Im looking for feedback from people who use VOB CD/DVD or record now max before I spend anything on them

Main use for DVD recording, music is not an issue

  3. Having been a Nero user for many years ( still am with CD-R/RW stuff ) I switched after too many coasters ( depsite sucessful burns accroding to Nero ) on the DVD side. Somewhere in here I tread about Record Now Max v 4.0. Though a simple program, Its been 100% on the ball for me right now for DVD Burning. I made only 1 bad disc and that because it did not process properly thru IFOedit and I forced the burn by unchecking the Recongize VIDEO_TS as DVD specification tab. Otherwise it kept rejecting the burn ( that was good on it's part ). Nero much to it's credit ( 5.5.9.0 ) does the same thing with the same set of VOB files, but having lost too many to Nero, I no longer fully trust it for Video Burns. ( Even my data burns were toast at th end of the burn ).

  4. vob instant dvd is great at what it does, what i dont like is the udf system it imposes all over your system, it interferes with winxp and where i could just drag and drop files using xp for speed i cant do that now because vob packet writing kicks in and unless you have a nother machine that has the udf file reader on it the disk is unreadable in it? its ok but with 20/20 hind site i would not buy it again!

    tricky

  5. I like the way that the Stomp utility works and may go down that path but as I said before Nero has been 100% for me and I only want a backup piece of recording software incase I DO come into problems

After reading posts about Nero I feel that my luck may soon run out

I have read that the most stable build of nero is 5.5.8.2,, that said I am one o those upgrade Nero as the new builds come out type of guys. Part of the problem has been due to poor media.. ( I found some really good cheap 2x media ), and my A03 was tempermental ( heat was one issue.. the other I never figured it out ). I gave my brother my A03 with the warning that it might have a high coaster rate only on DVD-R media. My A04 has been nothing but real sweetheart so far with Stomp.
