  1. Ok I don't mind to pay for something when its worth it. But I BOUGHT that MPEG2 DVD plug-in, It doesn't work with Nero Express and that's why I put my hopes on Vision Express, but NO !!!, Vision express just crashes after you added your MPEG2 files and you are at the final menu and click next, and poefff it stops!! So I feel like I have paid for just thin air. As anyone ACTUALLY TRIED to work with vision express AND the mpeg 2 dvd plug in? If yes please tell me your expiriences.Petra

  5. Well I dont know what to say to you all, i have just got VisionExpress and it works a treat, the encoding is very good and fast to. A 700Mb Divx AVI takes about 4h including the burn at 1x on my Pioneer 104 and the dvd plays great and looks even better, chapters etc etc all work. The only limitation i am told by Nero is that at present it will not except an Mpeg file larger than 2Gb - they are working on this. But it appears to transcode Divx fine - providing the Divx has been correctly"ish" done. I have also found that before starting the program you have to put the blank dvd in and (in xp) let the little menu appear saying "what do i do with this disc" then cancel the menu and start Nero VE. This seems to unlock the drive for recording or something like that. I also havent been able to get it to split a SVCD onto 2 CDr's (yet) im awaiting advise from Nero as if does or will do this feature. And in my opinion $24 for a very simple and easy to use program like this is well worth it.

I've had friends who have the extra $24 Mpeg2 (DVD) plugin tell me that NeroVision still stops, gives a popup message telling them to buy the Mpeg-2 plugin(that they've already purchased and installed) and then refuses to author or burn DVDs.

And that it will "author" SVCDs, but their DVD players(many brands noted for playing anything you put in them) won't play them since they don't work with "DVDized" and "authored" SVCD formatted video.
(the same with "authored" VCDs....they don't play on many standalone players, since it converts them too into a hybrid format that players can't recognize)

anybody else have those problems too?

    I hate "too early" releases.

The company's own website says that DVD authored with Vision can Only be watched on computers, and Not played on standalone DVD players.

I wonder when it will. I'll wait until then to buy it. THAT does me no good if I can't watch DVDs on my TV thru my player.

  8. I purchased the DVD plugin and burned a disk. Video was just fine, but no audio on my Apex 500W. I haven't tried any other DVD players yet (including PC's). However, I'm pretty sure it's not the Apex - I've burned several other DVD's just fine with Ulead DVD Workshop and Sonic MyDVD 3.5, all worked like a champ.

I was lured in by the promise of being able to create chapter points. None of the other "cheap" (under $100.00) DVD authoring solutions allow you to specify your own chapters. MyDVD does it, but only if you "capture" your video IN THEIR PROGRAM and specify the chapters as the file is being captured. So if I want to edit the video in Premiere then burn it to DVD and specify chapters I'm S.O.L.

NeroVision's chapter stuff worked great, but let's just say that not having audio on my DVD is "sub-optimal".

  10. i just got nero vision express and think its great, have burnt several good dvdr that play fine in my standalone dvd player, some were dvd rips others where from p2p
    1. rip with dvdx(mpeg1 vcd or mpeg2 svcd the choice is yours)
    2. then import the mpegs files into nero vision express and let it do the work for you
3.after the amount of time nero told your it would take, remove the newly created dvd and take to your standalone dvd player and enjoy!!!!!

total process normally takes me about 180 minutes to rip and 180 minutes to let nero do its work.if its an mpeg from p2p you can knock the 180 mins for ripping out of the equation

    hope this helps somebody!!!!

There is no problem for VCD or SVCD but no DVD can be made with MPEG files you encoded somewhere else.

  12. Yeah im having problems with this too. I just got dvr-104 drive and nerovision came with it. I burned a vcd last night and it only plays on my computer so yeah the program sucks. I dont want to watch it on my computer so its usless to me. i even bought the plugin, i didnt have problems with it at all it was going to take me 10 hours to encode mpegs i hade before so i stopped it and tried Tmpenc which was going to take 6 hrs so i think if i can figure out how to use Tmpenc encoder for my dvds im going to stick to that.

  13. Forget about making VCD, SVCD, or backing up DVD's I say. It a waste of time and money. Get a kick@ss computer with good vid card w/TVOUT and play your movies on the big screen. Or save up some money for this
    http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/021022/047810.html

I've been making VCD's and SVCD's with all sorts of programs and the end result is the same. Same movie you could've seen on the big screen with suggestion 1.

I use Nerovision ... I got it from Nero Website a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway the chapter autodetector is cool. Used it for a video of a friend's wedding.

After hearing about all the stuff that was negative about it working ... I went ahead and downloaded it from Nero Website and everything works just fine.

I guess I was lucky. I've the latest Nero burning program ... 55.9.17 installed and the other needed files and it is the program I use for burning my SVCDs ..... I use the TMPGEnc 2.59 for creating them.

Just thought I let you all know.

  15. I've had this thing now for a couple of weeks as well. I actually do like the authoring parts of the proggie. The problem I seem to be having with it is that the program wants to re-encode my 352x480 CVD into a 480x480 compliant SVCD. I'd use it if there was a workaround for this. Anyone have any ideas?
entirely TOO much time on my hands

  16. The problem with playing back sound has to do with the format encoded; it is LPCM. Apparently, not all DVD players with play this format; my Apex 1500 does not appear to playit (actually, it does but at really low sound levels). I went to the Apex site and it lists that it plays LPCM so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Please note that I created a DVD using Ulead Workshop and Studio 8 using the same video without changing the sound level and it played fine on my Apex 1500, but couldn't be heard using the NeroVision software.

    Any ideas???

Other than that the program worked great and setting up chapters was cake easy intuitive. It has limited templates, but that doesn't bother me.

I'm having difficulties burning VCD on CDRom with both Nero and NeroVision. I'm able to burn DVD's quite easily using NeroVision which play back on the drive I burn them on, I have yet to try this on a standalone DVD player besides the Sony PlayStation 2 which would not recognized the disk. It also looks like the VCD CDRoms are burning, just not working since the disk show four or five folders with various files inside them... I just can't get them to play back any of my MPEG footage.

  21. NO SOUND

    - Paid for Nero w/ Vision Express. Upgraded to Nero's 5.5.10.0 even.
    Bought the $24 plugin.

    - Using XP, burning DVD-R on a new Pioneer A05.

No matter what you 'author', mpg or avi, there is NO sound using Nero's Vision Express. The original mpgs and avis are always OK- great audio and great visual. But after its burned, the visual is OK, but no sound.

Cant get a reply from Nero, and cant seem to solve this problem.

Burned DVD-R plays visual anywhere on anything; PC using just about any DVD software, and Ive tried it on two stand alones. But no sound.

Help, as Im one (now) broke, pissed off newbie.

Rockmore, I share your pain. I did everything you said (upgrade, dvd plu-in, etc) and still did not burn a thing with NeroVision Express. I always get error 255. Nero's tech dept contacted me, and suggested uninstalling Nero, NeroExpress but it didn't work yet. To be fair to their tech support people, they offered to call me to try to resolve issue over the phone but we did not connect yet.

I promissed before to post final result in this board, but to be honest I'm waiting for the next NVE upgrade some time in Jan (my guess) to get things straight.

In the mean time I'm weighting buying or not buying Ulead DVD Workshop (too expensive but works).

  24. Is there any fix to this to this "no sound" with dvd's issue with the nero vision express?

it was pretty fast about 2 hours for about 5 GB of avi.

Note I used pinacle to make the avi's. But Pinacle locked up everytime I would try to layout the movie.

my dvd player (Sony s530) thinks it is mpeg audio, only no sound.

None of my pc dvd players can play sound with it either.

guess I will try the sony SW that came with the dvd burner

  25. Correction, sound does work with my PC USING PowerDVD, the sound format is LPCM 2.0.

Any way to change LPCM to dolby, dts or mpeg?

the main reason I bought this dam thing was to send dvd's back to the family.

    nietze, don't hold you breath...
I quit NVE for now as even their tech support couldn't come up with any solution that worked. I could not burn a single DVD, always got error 255.
My hope is that sometime in Jan there will a patch that will take care of all problems.

I like the program as it's simple and straight forward but it needs to WORK.

I get a couple of new prompts with the Dec.27th NeroVision update, but it doesn't make it work and burn DVDs any better for me, except low bitrate Mpeg-1 files.

I still can only burn mpeg-1 to DVD. Those are pretty poor quality DVDs. I need it to work with high bitrate DVD compliant Mpeg-2 caps...which it STILL freezes my computer on when I try to author and burn them.

    bummer
(I have friends who run ME operating systems that seem to have less trouble than users of Win98 or Win2000...weird)
