  1. After reading all of the great info on this site I decided to dive in and try my hand at making my own video projects (vcd and svcd for now).

Yesterday, I ordered the Canopus ADVC-1394 and recently I built my own rig. Here are the specs. Let me know if you think it is sufficient or if I should add anything. Thanks!!!

    WinXP - AMD 1600XP oc'd to 1.6ghz - 2x80g WD Special Edition hd's - 256mb DDR ram- onboard AC97 sound - Liteon 40x cd burner - Visiontek GTS-V 32mb DDR video card

for the future- sony dru500 dvd burner.

    Andysly5,

Sounds like a great system, you said...

Well, I would suggest a high performance sound card, (Creative Labs Sound Blaster), onboard sound may give you audio sync problems and I would bump the ram up to 512 MB.
Evil flourishes when good men do nothing.

  4. Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Upping the ram is definately the plan but with blowing $240 on the ADVC-1394 yesterday, it will have to wait. The soundcard, however, may be a bit more feasable. I think Newegg has it for approximately $35.
