Hi guys,
New here so a big 'Howdy' to yah all............
Im in the UK and I have got Blade2 Canadian version, anyways I couldnt get it too work on my UK PS2 even using the DVD Region X thing so......
I decided to do my first ever DVD rip..........
I used this guide at DOOM9.net and this guide The Cretins' Guide.
Now the cretins guide is the simple version for just ripping the movie on its own but I went thru the doom9 guide thinking it would rip the menu too, but I cant understand why it didnt.
I didnt do the 1st bit of the doom9 guide as I didnt want to strip the menu, in fact I didnt need to as the whole menu is English anyways, i just went to step 4. And ripped the Audio Tracks out and kept the English DD5.1 and Subs.
From what I gather as I played them in IfoEdit VTS_01_0 files are my menus and the VTS_01_1-7 files are the movie. Here are my Blade2 DVD contents...
~Video_TS.BUP
~Video_TS.IFO
~Video_TS.VOB
~VTS_01_0.BUP
~VTS_01_0.0.IFO
~VTS_01_0.VOB
~VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_7.VOB~
Anyways I then had some new VOBS as the Audio tracks were stripped....
I then copyed over the original video_ts.vob and vts_01_0.vob.VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_6.VOB + Video_TS.IFO and .BUP
Transcoded the Video stream............in REMPEG2
???This is correct yes as I only have those 6 vobs now, I couldnt understand if maybe I have to put VTS_01_0.VOB in (the menu) or is it that u never transcode the menu??????Stream List.......
CFFL
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB
VTS_01_6.VOB
Anyways I did a 65% scale factor and was left with a .m2v file ~3.5GB
I then did the remux adding the new m2v file bit and I am left with these files.........
I then copied video_ts.VOB and vts_01_0.vob over to this folder??VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_4.VOB
VIDEO_TS.BUP and IFO
[B}Now this is what I dont understand, I click PLAY in IFOEdit and it plays themovie but I see NO menu is this normal?????[B]
I am just about to do the last steps now, but I didnt want to ruin the file or **** up as I expected to be able to see the menus at this point or does that happen later when I do the (Step 3: Final sector adjustments ) thing???
Any help or guidance very much appreicated ( especially where I have BOLD text)
PS. I just wanted to ask I did the The Cretins' Guide and it did work I had a DVD that had just the movie on it burnt it to DVD+RW media and it works fine on the PC yet struggles on the PS2, could this be a media issue then or the PS2????

Hmmmmm been reading some guides, is it correct to say that Menus can only be created using something like Maestro???? or DVDit! PE??
I just burnt the DVD and no menus, its also skippy, not smooth playing on the PS2, ive used cheap media and Phillips+RW media still, is this happening because of the Re-Encoding of the DVD or because of the media+PS2??
I have only my PC to test it, + PS2 no access to a DVD player.
My PS2 is one of the latest machines so it shouldnt have any problems??
As i have game backpups on DVD+RVerb media and never a problem....

I then copyed over the original video_ts.vob and vts_01_0.vob.
1.) just re-encode the main movie files
2.) use some authoring program to join video+audio(+chapters+subtitles)
(DVDmaestro is nice program)
3.) then remove those "old" vts_01_1.vob-vts_01_7.vob (put in new folder for backup!)
4.) put those "new" vts_01_1.vob-vts_01_?.vob (only those vob's) where you have removed those old vob's(step 3.)
5.) use IfoUpdate and load the original vts_01_0.ifo and authored vts_01_0.ifo and hit update. then the original ifo has been updated so dont touch or remove anything!
6.) start ifoedit and open the original vts_01_0.ifo(which you update in step 5)... hit "get vts sectors" and then burn those files...
if those other vts titleset's are too big and wont fit... then you can remove those before step 6!
What you always need in disc is vts_01 titleset(VTS_01_0.VOB, VTS_01_0.IFO and VTS_01_0.BUP) and all other menu files so if there's a VTS_XY_0.VOB it has to be on the disc including the associated .IFO and .BUP files!
