  1. The only problem i have now with the drive is its inability to burn any image file, such as .iso.

The burn goes well, but the resulting disc cannot be read.

  2. Easy help .... don't burn image file... It's great advice, isn't it ?

The only problem i have now with the drive ...
So what was issue ? Was it drive or your computer driver/configuration/setup issue ?

  3. Not great advice, as i cant burn the data in the image file for use either.

I tried everything, and the only way i could get it to write - media was to put the drive on pirmary master, with 2 X 20GB HDD`s on sec mas and sec slave.

Did you set jumpers (Master/Slave) properly before (on IDE2) ? When I used "Use CSEL" it didn't work.

  5. Lol...yes mate. Ive done everything by the book. To be honest now, it looks like a media problem to me, i cant see what else it can be.
I mean, i can burn files and see them in wondows after burning. But when it comes to an image file, lets take a backup of my xbox games. The image file is 100% valid. Nero/RNM 4.5 will burn the .iso. Windows wont see the disc after burning (it shouldnt be able to), But you put it in my xbox and its a no go. Not only does it not boot, even according to the xbox there are no files on the disc. Its not a media problem with the xbox, as ive used the media in the pioneer 104 with 100% results.
It just doesent make sense. Ive tried 4 lots of media, and its all no go.
Drives been in my mates 2 pc`s, with the same results, so i know its not a hardware issue. Im just going to send it back now and stick with the 104 untill the lite-on comes out. The lite-on drives IMHO are the best there are.

  6. I couldn't burn CD image file either (I just extracted data and burned it as Data CD). Maybe this drive can't burn image files. Somebody recomended this (but that was for CD) and I didn't try it yet.

Burning images should work when using DAO/96 mode
Not that I know what that is ....

  9. Same here. Just tried image file, no problem. No problem with UDMA either? Seems like it has to be a unit to unit thing.

  10. ROFL

Well at least RNM 4.5 burns - media, even if it is no good. Just tried Nero again and in UDMA is refuses point blank to burn anything onto - media. Nero hangs and drive wont eject!
Cant even shut down the system.
