  1. Although I've been able to backup DVDs with SmartRipper before (the "I, Claudius" boxset, et cetera), I'm having absolutely no luck getting even the drive recognized with my new "Black Adder" set.

    I've read elsewhere in the Forum that playing then pausing the disc, THEN opening SmartRipper, can sometimes work; in my case this has only completely crashed my system three times. Any help, suggestions, shared experiences most definitely appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Ah, ah. I've had problems with that before -- "Direct CD" automatically turns it on, right? Thanks for the tip.

  3. Where do you disable the DMA?
    Thanks.

  4. goto desktop->right click on "my computer"->properties->"device manager" tab->disk drive->double click on your drive->"settings" tab->uncheck "DMA"
