  1. I have a real annoying problem with CCE: allmost everytime I encode a file there's a problem, something with invalid timestamp. This problem only seems to happen when encoding Avisynth scripts (the problem is I allways use it). I allways set to multipass VBR, the creation of the information file is OK, then the encoding fails, everytime at different point (usually at the beggining), if the first pass of the encoding is fine then the file will be fine, but succesfull encoding happens very rarely. I am trying different types of sources, using Avisynth 2.05 and tried with CCE versions 2.50 through 2.64.
It's really annoying me to try again and again only to fail most of the times, what's causing this problem and how can I solve it?

  2. Try using TMPGEnc , can still frameserve there. Also try encoding it directly without frameserve if you can. Ive had problems where CCE and AviSynth dont work together but directly through TMPGEnc it gave satifying results.

Play around with other options, theres more than one tool for this sort of thing for a reason

  3. If memory serves, there might be a patch for CCE 2.50 to fix that particular annoyance.

I've been using CCE 2.66 and Avisynth 2.06 for a while now without problems though.
As for TMPGEnc, I've had a few problems with using TMPGEnc and Avisynth at times.

I do usually have the following lines in the .avs script though (which obviously means that I deal with the audio separately) :

    KillAudio
    ResampleAudio(44100)

Have you tried producing the Avisynth script with FitCD?

  5. Yes, I have tried to create the script using FitCD, but it's the same. I don't want to use TMPG because it sucks in MPEG2. The problem is not the CCE version because I tried several versions. I think I'll just try MainConcept...

  6. Does anyone know if Mainconcept works with AviSynth or with AviSynth in a VFAPI wrapper? Starting to look like it might be a good encoder. It's certainly fast and from what I've seen the results look almost as good as multipass TMPEGenc. They are promising multipass soon so I would guess it might pass TMPEGenc as far as quality goes and the price is a lot more reasonable than CCE.

Starting to like using AviSynth so I'd hate to give it up if Mainconcept keeps looking viable as an endoder. Using AviSynth it looks like I can eliminate another very slow step and almost totally get away from any VDub pre-processing (not to mention that extra 20 - 40 gig of space).

  7. Test it

compile a script and see if it accepts it then you will know.

Never be afraid to try, in the end all you will do is learn...

  8. I did some test with MainConcept encoder. MCE 1.2 reads AVS some of the time, often you have to restart your computer before an encoding session in order to do so. MCE 1.31 doesn't read AVS at all and crashes every time when I try to open an AVS script. The work-around is use Link2 wrapper.
