i've been making copies of all my dvd's. i use smartripper to rip them, dvd2avi to frameserve, then tempgenc, then nero. my question involves dvd2avi. most of the time when you start frameserving, that little stats window appears that tells you the aspect ratio, frame rate, frame type, etc. know what i'm talking about? most of the time the frame type is either progressive or interlaced. on some of my dvd's this setting bounces back and forth between the two really fast. dvd2avi finishes its thing, then when i try to use tmpgenc, i set it up like normal, but it can't do it's thing. i'm assuming there is some setting somewhere i need to change to make this work when the frame type bounces back and forth like that. can somebody shed some light on this? if i need to be more clear on something let me know. thanks for any help.

concentrate more on the video type....i.e. (FILM and NTSC)....try turning on forced film if video type is 90% FILM or greater. if your rip has scenes that are really jumpy and w/ interlaced lines everywhere, then you have to treat the movie as NTSC, interlaced and turn off forced film in dvd2avi
another note, if the FILM percentage is really high, but the frame type is hybrid (i.e. bouncing back and forth between interlaced and progressive), try turning on forced film in dvd2avi and then in tmpgenc, enable the de-interlace filter (from personal experience, double (adaptive) or blend (adaptive) is best....) then view your rip and see how it looks. i tried this successfully w/ beauty and the beast (it was hybrid switching between interlaced and progressive frames, but the video was 99% FILM)
