  2. I believe that bin2iso can reconstruct .cue files (as well as doing the obvious bin2iso converstion). It might be worth giving the program a shot.

  4. Don't know who told you about the codec thing but that has absolutely no effect on CUE/BIN files.

If you can't get your CUE sheet working by editing the first line, try using VCDImager Tools GUI --> CUE/BIN Regenerator on the BIN file. It will recreate a new working CUE/BIN image.

BTW, the CUE/BIN is a disc image. It isn't going to play with media player. It isn't supposed to! You are meant to BURN it onto a disc. If you want to preview your cue/bin image before burning, the best way is to download and install Daemon-Tools: http://www.daemon-tools.com You can use it to mount a variety of disc images as a virtual CD in a virtual CD drive. You can then check out what is actually on the image without extracting things out of it. Very elegant.

    A few points:

Since WinRAR extracted the files correctly you can be 99.9% sure the files are not damaged.

Because of the layout of the CUE sheet you can be sure the disc image that you have is a (S)VCD.

There is another shortcut method that will extract only the movie regardless of whether you have the cue file or not and doesn't require you to burn a CD or install Daemon-Tools (which I recommend getting anyway as it comes in handy for other tasks).

    1) Grab a copy of ISOBuster http://www.isobuster.com, install it.

    2) Select "Open Image File" from the File menu, choose the ftf-below2.bin file and it will open, now there will be a directory in the left-hand window called either MPEGAV (if it is a VCD) or MPEG2 (if it is an SVCD), click on this directory and a filename will display in the right hand window.

    3) Right-click on the filename (it will be either AVSEQ01.MPG or AVSEQ01.DAT) and select "Extract but FILTER only M2F2 mpeg frames", a file requester will open so pick a directory (desktop is a good spot) to put the extracted movie in, click Save and the movie will be saved as an MPG.

    4) The file you extracted will now open in Windows Media Player, if it doesn't then you will need a software DVD player or an MPEG2 codec (which you should already have from the Nimo pack) because the disc image is an SVCD.

  6. The CUE file can be dodgey because the original person who made it stuffed it up: (1) didn't bother to include it, (2) kept the absolutely path to the BIN file, (3) tried to delete the absolute path but then stuffed up the CUE file in some other way.

Not to mention, YOU could have stuffed up the CUE file if you try to edit it...

If you use ISOBuster, you will get the movie but nothing else. The original VCD may have had chapters / menus / other sorts of interaction that you will loose if you use ISOBuster. If you are sure that the image is that of a S/VCD and you don't trust the CUE file, the best course of action is to use the CUE/BIN regenerator tool I highlighted before.
