    A friend converted my DVD+R to DVD-R. Can I convert from DVD-R to avi or MOV?

    Yes you can convert a dvdr to avi. Use for example dvdx

    or read any of doom9s dvd to divx/avi guides
    www.doom9.org

    To convert to quicktime/mov you probably need quicktime pro or some other quicktime encoder.
