  1. Heya, as you've guessed, I've got a problem here. I'm also new to burning VCDs or any other image kind than the standard 'data' format on CDR(W)s.

I've used various combinations: TMPEG, Virtualdub, EasyVCD, Nero, CDRWIN.

I have a few MPEGs and AVIs. All I want to is to have a bunch of them together in VCD so that I can watch all those clips on my DVD player.
According to the specs, my DVD player is compatible for running (S)VCD. It's a Lenco DVD-02 or DVD-05 (don't remember the number).

So, I've been trying to burn those files in VCD format. At first I used Nero, but the result was that on my computer, the *.DAT were readable by WMP, but on my standalone DVD player it would load, then open and spit the cdrom out.

I then used TMPEG to encode all into VCD MPEG format. I then burned those but still no work. I even used EasyVCD to make BIN/CUE files and let it be burned on cd with CDRWIN. The result: Also no work on my standalone DVD player.

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I've read the information on the VCDHELP website. I've followed the steps carefully for the Nero burner. I also followed the steps carefully for the TMPEG encoding. I even followed instructions of EasyVCD how to make BIN/CUE files.

Actually, there were no errors encountered in the procedures I followed. The only thing is: It simply won't work on my DVD player.

If anyone is kind enough to explain to me what I might have overlooked I'd be grateful.

  2. Have you checked if your DVD player CAN play vcd's?
Check out the DVD Players list which is on the OTHER section of this website.

For example my DVD player can only play VCD's if they have been written to a re-writable DVD player...

some players work with any media others (as may be the case with yours) dont.

  4. It's a Lenco DVD-05 (verified). According to the specs this site gave me (and also according to the box it came shipped in) it supported VCDs. So that was not the issue. It also supported CDR(W) stuff. I already made sure of all this before starting to burn any VCD cdroms.

I've browsed the VCDHELP site a bit more. I actually looked at the comments of the DVD player itself, what others had experienced. It seemed afterwards that I had to type a code in order to let the DVD player know that it was a VCD that it was about to read.

So, after typing '119' on my remote, it now accepts VCD videos. So, everything works very fine, yayyyy.

So. For a Lenco DVD-05, type '119' in order to let it accept VCD format.

  5. I have to admit that I'm quite surprised by that...

You have to enter a code to let the player KNOW that it is a VCD???

This is definitely not how most DVD players work. Generally, all you need to do is simply put the disc in and press "play"...

How bizarre... Does anyone know of any other players that need the same thing?

    Regards.
