you can fit over 800 MB of SVCD on a 800MB disc.
how are you trying to burn it?
look through the guides here, or, the easiest way is to use VCDeasy to author an image(uncheck the perform compliance checks box), and then use daemontools to mount the image as a virtual drive, and use whatever program you like to copy the disc to your CDR(W).
I personally use either Nero or Clone CD, and both work great for this.
    good luck!

  3. Well its a SVCD file of 734MB, using NERO 5 v5.5.9.17 , i think its something to do why my cdrw becuase it cant read the 800MB cd.
    i have SONY 10X 4X 32X, maybe its too old ???

  4. looking at those speed Id say the burner is a little old, to memory 800 meg is a 90 min cdr ? is that what your using?

if your using the 90 min cdr then your burner needs to support overburning, possible as your burner is a older one it doesnt do this and therefor you wont be able to burn to that disk.

on the other hand if it does support the overburn process then in nero's menu select,

File --> Preferences then click on the tab that says Expert Features and check the Enable Overburn box, then enter the correct maximun cd length.
Then click on the General tab , and enter the approrpriate numbers into the box there Yellow Marker= 90 min Red= what ever you want to set I have Mine set at 99, click apply and then ok.

When you burn nero will first pop up a message saying that your disk isnt big enough, then a second will pop up asking if you would like to overburn ( this is allowing that your burner can physically handle overburn if not then this will not work)

I hope this has helped I just recently bought a new burner cause My old one didnt support overburn so I know your frustration. Just stay at it

  6. just check that the burner supports overburning before you buy it

I know the lite-on 48X 12x 48x does cause its what I use, the latest LG burners are supposed to be pretty good also with overburn support but I cant talk from experience on this burner.

  8. even though that is larger it should still be able to burn onto the cd without too much trouble. I have burned 795 meg SVCD onto a 700 meg disk.

Nero should be able to burn it. just select new, and (S)VCD, and then load your mpeg.
some people have problems w/Nero, so they follow the method I described in my first post.

use VCDeasy to author an image(uncheck the perform compliance checks box), and then use daemontools to mount the image as a virtual drive, and use whatever program you like to copy the disc to your CDR(W).
