Is There A Way To Tell If a DVD is DVD5/DVD9 Before I (BUY)

Is there a year/date when they started using mostly dvd9's? and are alot of the older classic movies dvd5's?

As I just learned to do dvd5's and now will try dvd9's in the near future.

    Any Help Would Be Great.

    From The Forum Rules/Policy Page

    Backup
You have the right to make A backup of your media. You can back up as much or as little as you wish.

    Fair use
When you own the media, they are the rights you get automatically DESPITE what content providers or laywers might tell you. These rights are fully supported by the crew at VCDhelp and are the basis for most of the site. These fair use rights evaporate when you sell the media in question.

Also After I do a forum search using the word "Rented" I see so many threads about people trying to copying rented movies - how could someone do such a thing - I am very surprised these threads have not been closed asap as it is indeed against the forums rules.

  3. Thanks for your reply - I guess you need to figure in other previews and such that they put on the dvd's also.

We can't keep on top of everything and most moderators are most worried about current posting and less worried about old postings.

There are no magic numbers that you can tell if it's DVD-9 vs DVD-5.

  5. Also thanks for your reply on that there is really no magic numbers - but one thing, wasn't the old postings once new posting that be kept on top of?
As when they are new it is the time to catch them so peeps don't do a search and see posts against the forum rules.

  6. you can always check this site ..http://www.solidvob.com/ it will tell u if u need to downsize, keep the movie only or movie and menu, but the database is rather limited at the moment, the more people know of this site the better it will become. And please post ur findings of a dvd.
