Sony DRU-500A problem burning CD from BIN (cue) with Nero

I was trying to burn CD from BIN (cue) file with no success. I burned CD without any problems on my Buslink CD burner from same source. I don't have exact error message now, but .... Anybody with same issue ? Is it sofware or hardware issue ? Making CD as a compilation is working fine.

This is what I have experienced this far:

Tried to burn an SVCD image in DAO mode: failed right away
Tried to burn an SVCD image in DAO/96 mode: failed in the end, but I think this was just becausde the drive isn't that good in overburning. However, I had no problems burning this image with my Yamaha 16x CDRW.

Burning images should work when using DAO/96 mode, if the image is small enough to fit on a cd without overburning.

I am not sure what DAO mode is But I will try that duringf this weekend and I will update this post with result.

OK. I finally have chance to look into this again.

I have 2 files (bin file is data CD not SVCD)

abc.cue
abc.bin

My *.cue file have this in it

FILE "ABC.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

What do I need to do to burn it with Nero and Sony DRU-500A ? I have to add that I was able to use same files with success on my Buslink CD burner. So is this issue with Sony drive ?

And.... Yes.... I tried "File / Burn Image"

This is from log...

..Burn process started at 4x (600 KB/s)
..Invalid field in parameter
..Could not perform start of Disc-At-Once
..Burn process failed at (600 KB/s)

Any ideas ??

So did you try burning in DAO/96 mode?

That was exactly the error I got when tried to burn in DAO mode.

I don't burn SVCD disk and size of bin file is only 236 MB.

I get same message in nero when trying to burn to 1X princo dvd-rw media.
I cant successfully burn an .iso at all.
The drive sux!

scaftag have you ever seen any post with succesfull image burn on this drive ? Is it even possibe ?

Nero isn't the best program to be burning CUE/BIN images with anyway...

It doesn't seem to me (from the CUE sheet) that you are burning a S/VCD?

In any case, have you tried using CDRWin or CDRDAO / VCDEasy to burn the CUE/BIN image?

No, I didn't try CDRWin or CDRDAO. I didn't see these programs listed here in Tools page (only VCDEasy).

Is there any logical explanation why same files can be burned wit same version of Nero by Buslink CD burner but not Sony DRU-500A ?

I am having this EXACT same problem with the new Pioneer DVR-105, and I am trying to burn a vcd bin, cue image....

I have also found out that this happens even when encoding my own mpeg and using nero to create the vcd

I have tried cdrwin 39.b, fireburner, alcohol, and Nero and all programs give the same result...

I suspect we need some firmware upgrades...

You can use VCDEasy as a GUI to CDRDAO which is an open source / free CD burning proggy (capable of burning CUE/BIN images). As such, you can use VCDEasy / CDRDAO to burn a CUE/BIN image of anything (INCLUDING that of S/VCDs).
