Date and Time through firewire link

I am an insurance investigator and have a sony trv-525 digital camcorder.
I can not seem to get the date and time onto the computer through the firewire link. I called sony and they said it cant be done unless I use an analog connection. This doesn't make sense and must be a problem with others. Is there a camera that will do this? Also, is there anyway to do this?
Any help would be appreciated.

sometimes you have to call tech support back.. and hope you dont get a dumbass.. use a fake name, whatever you have to do.. it sounds like some bunk shit if you cant change the date or time without an analog connection. giv'em hell
