    can anyone help me out with a birate calculator formula? i got one from the rip different message board but i don't think the bitrate always comes out properly.. i've had success with the one in ffmpegx but i want the actual working equation itself for coding purposes.

    that is the link to the rip different thread about a formula but it often gets different results from ffmpegx so im not 100% confident in it.. either that or im just not using it right.

    i dont want bitrate calc programs.. i already have plenty of em.. i want the actual formula itself to calculate the bitrate so i can implement a calc into afropic

    L = Size of the Medium you like to use in kb (e.g. 800 MB = 800.000 kb)
    L1 = Minutes you like to have on the Medium in seconds
    A = Audiobitrate in kb

    If the movie has a length of 90 Minutes is M = 5.400
    If you like to use two 700 Mb CD-R's then is L = 140.000
    If you like to rip the movie as an SVCD containing 50 minutes for one CD is L1 = 3.000
    If the bitrate of the sound should be 224 kb then is A = 224
    In that case ...
    Videobitrate = (5.400 x (140.000 / 3.000) - 224) / 100

    You should use 2518 kb/sec to rip the movie.

    This formular will work for every kind of movie.

    Yeah, the topic title was something about ac3 files, but I remembered it from earlier. Sounds like the program is coming along nicely. Keep up the good work.

  7. tgpp: Is there a way for me to calculate (Formula??)how long of a moive that I can put my DVD-R?? I am capturing from VHS using ATI AIW with Virtual Dub, Huffuv@720*480 PCM audio 44khz. My tape is around 2 hour and 30 min. long. Is there a formula that I can follow so that I can calculate how many DVD-R I would need, and how long each DVD-R is going to be ?
