  1. I am trying to fix an AVI with VirtualDub (1.4.11) by doing:
    Audio, Direct Stream Copy
    Video, Direct Stream Copy
    File, Save As AVI.

The end result is an AVI half the size of the original. When I play the corrected AVI at some point I have no video more, only audio.

Can I fix this, or is the AVI to broken to be fixed?

  2. Have you scanned the video stream for errors first. Sounds like there is a freeze in the video.

Yes, first I scanned for errors. There were a few bad frames, bat alot of frames that were good but undecodable (or someting like that ).
After the scanning I tried to fix it as described.

  4. It sounds like there were so many frames undecodable that when you saved as .avi, virtualdub has cut them out and left the .avi unusable. Unless you can get another version of the .avi then I think your stuck.

    Maybe this link can help...

I usually have this problem also when I have a file with a HUGE amount of bad frames. Download "vdub_mp3_freeze" and follow this guide right here:
