  1. Here's a question...maybe someone has experienced this.

    I have demuxed a non-encrypted VOB (this was a VOB from a DVDR+RW on a Phillips DVDR985).

The playback is perfect on the Phillips and on my computer when played from the orginal recorded disc. However, when I demux the vob, the resulting .m2v has a very odd color issue.

The best way I can describe it is this...bright colors are fine, all motion is fine. The problem occurs with darker colors. There seems to be an almost "pulsing" effect on the darker colors. The pulse is a slight increase and decrease in the brightness of the darker colors.

The problem continues to persist even if I burn the .mv2 back to a DVD and play it on the TV.

I have tried a variety of programs that demux, all with same result. These including vobedit06, vobrator02b, and vob snoop.

    Any thoughts?

  2. As a follow-up question...

Could my problem be due to Macrovision. I don't think I have ever seen it in action, so I'm not sure what it looks like.

    However... http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/600/macrovision.htm

    ..said:

"Macrovision is basically done by injecting fake brightness information into video signal that VCR's do not understand"

Could this becoming from my cable signal or DVD recorder.

(This problem also happened with a few tests I did on TV shows)

    Anyone have an idea?
