    I need a good avi to mpg converter that is freeware and does audio as well as video. I have been looking everywhere so i hope someone can help me.

    look at the tool section: TMPGEnc.

    there's also a lot of guides that show you how to use it. (try the "how to" section or other guides outside the forum)
