    Hi there,

I took a look at your screenshots.
The first one says: Setup was interrupted before the installation was completed. You can restart DVD2DVD-R Setup later at any time to perform a full installation.
The second one: Setup is starting the program to delete temporary installationfiles.
And the third one: Programsetup deleted.

So if you were looking for a helpfull message or a reason why setup wouldn't work correctly, I guess this is rather unsatisfying

  3. Thanks for the quick response. You're right, though. The messages don't seem to help much. Did everyone else successfuly download and install off the link from the very first post on this topic? I'm gnawing at my shorts here to give this program a shot. Sounds very promising.

Perhaps you had some insight into what the problem could be, ChatWalker? Thanks for your assistance!

Sure did. No issues here. Perhaps you missing something you should be clicking? Like the big square with the computer in it that actually begins the install?

  5. Thanks for the help all. All installation problems seem to be solved. Now I wait for my shipment of DVD-R's to arrive.

ChatWalker, when could we hope to see the next version of DVD2DVD-R released? Awesome work.

    Guys:

Read through the entire topic chain . . . twice, and was very excited to try this new tool. Downloaded the software, installed (using google to translate the messages), and fired up the program. However, the program will not load - I receive the following error: "run-time error '71': Disk not ready"

I've un-installed and reinstalled the program twice.
I have 100 GB of free disk space
I tried putting a DVD in both my burner and ROM drives.

    Still receiving this error.

    Any thoughts?

Regarding my previous post - I attempeted to read through the German forum (again translating using Google) - There was a similar post, with a recommendation for updating the file system to NTFS, or closing the disk drives. Couple points of clairification:

    - All my hard disk drives are NTFS
    - All my ROM drives are closed (I've tried running the program with both drives empty, and loaded with blank or studio DVDs).

Any help is appreciated. I'm really looking forward to trying this program - if only I can get it to work.

    THANKS!!!

  8. Has anyone figured out why the video is jerky on a re-encode
    Quote Quote
  9. so basically according to what antonio said earlier, its pointless to use this program on ntsc movies till force film/pulldown is implemented (due to poor encoding)?

  10. What i have found that works is to first download bitrate viewer from www.doom9.org, then read their guide on "getting the best out of CCE." There is a paragraph that tells you what settings to use when, and u can tell this from the stats that bitrate viewer gives you. Chat says the settings should be automatic, but i have had no luck with default settings. I have though gotten 4 movies to copy perfectly and all used encoding.

  11. Hi Guys - I'm new to this so any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to backup Star Wars - Episode II - but the size is reported as being 5.8gb - is there anyway to reduce this down to get it on one DVD?

    Thanks

  12. Bond8089:

The problem is not really the settings in CCE. Problem comes from the NSTC format itself. When encoding movies to DVD the frame rate use is 23.976, but the frame rate use in the american standard television is 29.97 fps. This means that when movie studios encode moving picture to DVDs they can do one of two things:

1-Change FRAME RATE from 23.976 to 29.97 (PULLDOWN) before encoding.
2-Or encode at 23.976 adding also the PULLDOWN flags, so the decoder in your DVD player or digital TV, can make the proper conversion. They use this option to allowed more space in the DVD for higher bitrate or more time.

When using an enconder like CCE or TMPGEnc you must especified at what frame rate is the source ( this is the work of "FORCE FILM" option in DVD2AVI). If this option is not use, the source frame rate of 23.976 is taken by the encoder as 29.97. This will produce a jerky picture with some pixelation. Also an encoder like CCE 2.50 doesn't add the PULLDOWN flags after encoding, that is why we also need PULLDOWN.EXE (However when using TMPGEnc you don't have to use PULLDOWN.EXE).

For more information go to guides section in Doom9...

  14. Hi all

I've just added a 'Force Film'-Option to DVD2DVD-R. The new Version will come soon. If the 'Force-Film'-Option is used, be sure that you add the pulldownflags with pulldown.exe on the new encoded video and rename it back to Video_0xE0_NEW.m2v.

Thank you Chatwalker for a program that solves a lot of problems for us newbies in DVDr . Can't wait for the new and improved version.
Anyone interested in the Scenarist method of subtitles in English (By Tommkill - Thank you T.), please PM me. Includes Tip for isolating "Alien" subtitles and "Forced" subtitles.
    ====================

    JX reported, some time ago:

Good show! This is excellent software.
    Can anybody help with Matrix?
The subtitles are faster then the video & audio and for the final part the gap is terrible.
In other words, it starts ok but the difference between the audio and the subtitle is always increasing becoming 3 to 5 seconds at the movie end.
I’m using IfoEdit 0.95 for muxing and authoring.

Myself (Arianos) reported on the German Forum:

"....Following the instructions and translating "Die Anleitungen" for subtitles with Ifoedit, I make perfect DVDr ISOs, but whatever I do, (Pal or NTSC, 1 or 2 audio streams, re-encoding or not) the subtitles are gradually out of sync (faster or slower).
Could someone help, or point me to a link? Is the scenarist method better?
    Viele Danke. "

Doesn't anyone have the same problem? Just two people out of ALL the users? I know I am unlucky in general, but not to this point!!!
Otherwise, following the Guides on the German site, I get PERFECT DVDRs every time. I haven't found one to trouble me yet (I keep my fingers crossed...)

Thank you again Chatwalker. If I figure this little "bug" out, or if it's fixed in the next version, it's PayPal time

  16. I saw early on in this thread people saying that they can't install this on XP because of an installer error in "German." I am having the same exact problem. I also read that Chat Walker said that this should work on XP without any service packs. I don't have SP1 installed, and I did get the install error in German with XP. Has anyone figured out what this error says so that I can install this program? I saw someone say they would trasnslate if the error message in German was written on here, and being that I have not seen those people write the errors down, I am thinking they solved the install problem. I know some of them were trying to Download and install SP1 even though Chat said it shouldn't be needed. That is what I will try and do. I am really hoping that works. I am anxious to try this program out. If anyone can help with resolving this error message, please Help. Thanks

Audio is gradually going out of lip sinc as the movie plays, not until like half way through the film, does this happen to anyone else or is my authoring a bit off

  19. @Chatwalker,

Firstly m8, thanks for an excellent prog, and the support and info you are willing to give to this thread.

Problem I have, is that, everything rips ok, but when it comes to dvd2avi, i get an error message in german (which I can't understand). The dvd2avi.exe is in the same folder but dvd2dvdr says it can't find it. Any advice on this please. I'm running xp so it should be ok??

I'm left with a m2v file and ac3 file, but how can I use these further in the prog without the use of dvd2avi

    thanks Raider

  21. Just thought I'd drop a line with some results.

I installed this program and used it to make a copy of "We Were Soldiers" in NTSC format which had to be re-encoded (6.2GB). The upper field first option was un-checked and I used Multi-pass VBR at 2 passes. iDCT Algorithm was set on 32-bit SSE2 for my Pentium 4 1.6GHz.

I authored the final DVD with Maestro by importing the .m2v and .ac3 and compiling, although it gave me an odd I-Frame error when importing the .chp chapter list I made.

However, I tried extracting chapters from the original with Chapter Xtractor and had the same problem. Seems to be a problem with Maestro / Xtractor rather than DVD2DVD-R.

I burned the DVD-R (Ritek's from supermediastore.com about $1.15 each including shipping) using Nero on my Sony DRU-500A at 1X (took about 50 minutes).

DVD-R played in both my Sony DVP-S360 and my Sony PS2. Video quality was noticeably less than the original DVD (no jerkiness, just pixelation and fuzziness on a Sony WEGA 27" on 16:9 mode using component inputs).

I'm going to attempt to copy it again using my previous method, which was using Decrypter, DVD2AVI, TMPGEnc, Chapter Xtractor, Maestro and Nero, then compare the video qualities. I'll post those results as well. Hope this helps someone

  22. Hi

The current version of DVD2DVD-R (1.2.0) didn't allow 'ForcedFilm' in DVD2AVI which you need for NTSC. After the encoding with CCE you also have do execute pulldown.exe on the new encoded video to set the required pulldown flags. With TMPEG this is not needed.

    The new version of DVD2DVD-R (1.3.0 ) will have a 'ForcedFilm'-Option!!
1.3.0 is available in a few days!!!

People who will not wait could try this:
    - Settings -> disable 'try to start CCE'
    - after ripping open the .d2v with notepad and change 'FieldOperation=0' to 'FieldOperation=1'
    - run CCE and load the .ecl ; start encoding
    - run pulldown.exe on the new encoded video
    - authoring

  23. @Chatwalker

I gotta say m8, it worked brilliantly.

I authored the resulting m2v and ac3 files from dvd2dvr in Maestro rather than Ifoedit.

I deleted the original main movie vobs from the dvd structure and copied over the authored vobs from Maestro (which I renamed to the original vob titles)

I then used Ifoupdate on the orginal ifo file and the authored ifo file from Maestro.

This gave me a final dvd structure including all extras, menus, and less than 4gigs.

I tried burning with Primo and it wouldn't play in Standalone, so I tried burning with Nero and it was perfect, played in everything.

There was no freezing, sticking, and nothing was out of sync. This is by far the easiest method I have found to get everything on the dvd, and I'm going to stick with it

Thanks for your excellent software and input m8

    Raider

The movie was PAL, Monsters Inc, on 2000ghz processor on WinXP o/s

Just to add, quality was excellent, managed to encode main movie to 2.20 gigs, and there was no apparent visible drop in quality.

  29. Hey Chatwalker Great Program!

I have sucessfully created two DVD backups

    Resident Evil (NTSC)
    Men in Black II (NTSC)

Niether required re-encoding so they both worked with no problems but I know sometime in the near future I will have a NTSC DVD that does so I was wondering if someone could clairify a few things.

    1. I need to enable ForceFilm in DVD2DVD-R for it to work correctly

    2. I need to run Pulldown to set the Pulldown flags. What would be the syntax for Pulldown.exe?

    Thanks for all your help
